Wilco seems to be coming full circle as a band with Sky Blue Sky, a carefully articulated follow up to their phenomenal album A Ghost Is Born and a grounded, back to basics response to their beautiful, sprawling masterwork, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Most of the songs presented here were written in the studio, by the full band, which brings a very album like consistency to the work. There is a great deal of fluidity here without any unexpected musical turns or twists, even with the intricate qualities Nels Cline and Jim O’Rourke bring to the music, the album maintains its confidence and cadence throughout.

The production is flawless in every aspect, maintaining successfully the nuance of Jeff Tweedy’s voice and the complex, yet gentle arrangements of each song.
