Record Store Day 2009... 7" Exclusive Singles Blow Out The Door!!!
Reports from all parts of the Country are the same... Record Store Day 2009 was a huge success. Music fans were reportedly lined up for well over an hour just to get in to such stores as Other Music in NYC and Amoeba Music in Los Angeles. Business was insanely brisk at Grimey's in Nashville where upwards of 2,000 fans jammed their parking lot for performances by Stardeath And White Dwarfs, Mute Math and others.
The Flaming Lips were spotted trying to buy their exclusive 7", but didn't have any luck... the store went through the 60 they had in an hour or so.
Jack White manned the counter at the newly opened Third Man Records in Nashville to the delight of those stopping in.
At Criminal Records in Atlanta a host of local bands play while updating the RSD twitter site all day.
Amoeba, Freakbeat, Vacation and others around LA were packed for business...THAT is the story from everywhere, music fans LOVE Record Store Day. Hell, they were even buying vinyl in 100 degree heat at Coachella.
The 7" singles done exclusively for the day were the big winners. Everything sold on 7" vinyl. The Wilco DVD was another quick item to sell. Super happy to report, the first item sold out from store to store across the Country was The Faming Lips / The Black Keys 7".
What a wonderful day for music lovers, especially if you are a vinyl head!!!!!!!!
